The New Norwegian Big Band
|
The New Norwegian Big Band started up in 2017. The ensemble focuses on performing contemporary composed music and aims to challenge the typical Big Band format. They have performed music both written by musicians in the band, and established Norwegian composers. They have collaborated with composers such as Erlend Skomsvoll, Magnus Murphy Joelson and Shannon Mowday. Their main goal is working towards creating Norway's first full time government-financed professional Big Band. Philip Edwards Granly has written several compositions for the band and is also one of the band's boardmembers.
