Steal Away - A Tribute

In 1995 and 2012 pianist Hank Jones and bassist Charlie Haden recorded two albums "Steal Away" and "Come Sunday". The two albums consists of hymns, folktunes and spirituals.

Alexander Riris and Philip Granly met each other at the Jazz Conservatory in Trondheim and fell in love with the bass and piano concept. The repertoire gives the duo a unique opportunity of exploring this rich treasure of beautiful melodies with histories of sorrow, pain, hope and happiness which constitutes the foundation of American music tradition. After one of our concerts the priest said: "I rarely come across these old hidden treasures of chapel favourites played so beautiful and delicately!"
